Gated Communities – Atkinson and Blandy again

Standard

Back to gated communities and Atkinson and Blandy again… (2012 this time):

“…gated communities raise some of the most pertinent questions for urban and housing analysts around segregation, social inequalities, the role of the state, and the proliferation of new forms of governance as well as the question of unequal access to household security and luxury. It is also worth noting that such ‘communities’ are often criticised for providing places of refuge and enabling higher income groups to opt out of social, political, and sometimes also economic participation.” (p.232)
